An article from camcorderinfo.com is showing a drastic decline in the use of IEEE1394 or firewire in the computer industry over USB 2.0. According to the article, “IEEE 1394 is expected to reach its peak in 2008 and gradually go
extinct by the year 2009. Taking its place is USB 2.0, which has a 100%
saturation in the PC market, versus 33%-and-dropping for 1394.” This comes as sad news to many as fans of FireWire know that, compared to USB, it has a much faster sustainable data transfer rate even though it has a slightly slower top speed.
